MONTREAT, N.C. — The Montreat College men's basketball team released its 2026-27 regular-season schedule last month, one featuring 26 countable contests, two NCAA Division I exhibitions and 12 home games. The Cavaliers will also face a 19-game Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) slate as they prepare for another competitive year.
Beginning the regular season away from McAlister Gymnasium, the Cavs open the campaign with three of their initial contests on the road, starting with an Oct. 24 clash at Lindsey Wilson College. Montreat continues away from home to open November against Georgia Gwinnett College (Nov. 3) and Carolina University (Nov. 7).
The Cavaliers commence AAC play with back-to-back home contests, hosting Union Commonwealth University on Nov. 11 prior to welcoming Columbia International University one week later. Montreat then wraps up November with three straight road matchups at the University of Pikeville on Nov. 21, Morris College on Nov. 24 and Western Carolina University on Nov. 25.
Montreat splits its six December contests evenly between home and road games, beginning with a pair of matchups at McAlister Gymnasium. The Cavaliers welcome Tennessee Wesleyan University on Dec. 2 before hosting Bluefield University three days later. The Cavs then travel to Dayton, Tenn., to face Bryan College on Dec. 9 prior to taking on AAC rival Milligan University on Dec. 12.
The Cavaliers conclude December at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Dec. 18 in advance of visiting Elon University the following day. After Christmas break, Montreat returns to action with a busy January slate, beginning on the road against UCU for the teams' second meeting of the season.
Late January brings a marquee matchup against the reigning conference tournament champions, the Johnson University Royals, on Jan. 20. The Cavaliers then head home for consecutive contests against Columbia College and Milligan on the 23rd and the 27th, respectively.
After closing January on the road against Truett McConnell University, Montreat plays three of its final five regular-season contests at home. The Cavaliers welcome Carolina to McAlister Gymnasium on Feb. 3 before traveling to Bluefield and Tennessee Wesleyan for their final two road games. The Cavs then return home to host Bryan and the reigning AAC regular-season champion, Pikeville, to end the regular season.
With a strong showing in league play, Montreat looks to position itself among the teams competing for the AAC Tournament title. This year's conference tournament is scheduled for Feb. 24-27 at the Marriott MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
