BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Montreat College men's and women's track & field teams put together a strong performance at the Montreat College Multis on Wednesday and Thursday. With just five athletes competing across 10 events, the Cavaliers produced three personal-best marks along with a school record in a well-rounded effort.
Emma Barnes highlighted the meet with an impressive all-around showing, competing in the heptathlon as well as multiple field events. Barnes established a new personal best and program record with 4,824 points in the heptathlon while claiming victories in three of the seven disciplines. The Waxhaw, N.C. native now holds the fourth-ranked mark in the NAIA this season with her performance.
Drew Bryant took part in the decathlon, finishing with 5,657 points across the 10-event competition. The Enka High School graduate collected three event wins, delivering a consistent effort throughout the meet.
Isis Rain Giron posted two personal records in the women's shot put and hammer throw, recording distances of 11.05m and 40.22m, respectively. Izzi Ackerman also contributed in both events, producing marks of 10.42m in the shot put and 32.86m in the hammer. The pair additionally competed in the discus, where Rain Giron reached 32.76m and Ackerman registered 22.59m.
William Wood rounded out the group with appearances in two field events, throwing 43.74m in the discus and 12.00m in the shot put.

The Cavaliers now turn their attention to a split-squad weekend, competing Saturday and Sunday at the Lee University Last Chance meet in Cleveland, Tenn. and the LR Last Chance meet in Hickory, N.C.
