WALESKA, Ga.— After breaking a national record on Wednesday,
Grace Wiegand proved to be the obvious choice as the newest Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honoree. The award marked her initial such recognition as a Montreat College Cavalier, as well as the first for the program since April 15, 2024.
On Wednesday, Wiegand made NAIA history during a 24-17 triumph over Warren Wilson College. The senior midfielder scored 14 goals in the win, breaking the previous regular season single-game record by three. Additionally, Wiegand contributed four assists, setting the program's single-game points record with 18. Just two days later, Wiegand tacked on another 10 goals in her squad's 19-7 victory at Brevard College.
In total, the Fayetteville, N.C. native scored 24 goals, dished out four assists, notched 28 points and placed 30 of her 36 shot attempts on frame. Wiegand was a perfect 6-for-6 on free position shots, and she also tallied 14 draw controls, seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.
