MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — The Montreat College women's wrestling team opened its 2026-27 season on Thursday evening with a 32-18 dual defeat to fellow Mid-South Conference (MSC) foe Brewton-Parker Christian University. Competing down in Mount Vernon, Ga., the Cavaliers were unable to hold off a late charge from the Barons. As a result, the Cavs began the year at 0-1 (0-1 MSC), while BPCU started the season at 1-0 (1-0 MSC).
Both squads exchanged forfeits early on, with No. 8
Morgan Repasky garnering five free points at 103, and Brewton-Parker doing the same in the 110-pound and 117-pound matchups.
Annastasia Skoda leveled the dual scoreboard at 10-10 thanks to her pin in the 124-pound clash.
Back-to-back 12-2 tech falls at 131 and 138 enabled the hosts to sprint in front, 18-12.
Kaine Powell's forfeit win in the 145-pound slot pulled Montreat within one, but an additional Cavalier forfeit, a pin and another 12-2 tech fall across the final three bouts powered the Barons to a 32-18 win on their home mat.

The Montreat College women's wrestling team heads to East Stroudsburg, Pa., on Sunday, Nov. 1, for the ESU Open, hosted by East Stroudsburg University. Bouts are slated to begin at 9 a.m.
