MILL SPRING, N.C.— The Montreat College women's track and field team traveled to Mill Spring, N.C. on Friday to take part in the Tryon Banked Invitational. The meet featured a large field of competitors, including several NCAA Division I programs, providing a highly-competitive environment for the Cavaliers.
Montreat recorded 13 entries across nine events, producing four top-20 finishes and two event debuts in Friday's competition.
The day began with the 5000m, where Elena Fibraio made her collegiate debut in the event. She placed 17th in a field of 23, posting a time of 19:33.17.
In the mile, Macy Parks took 48th among 91 runners by finishing in 5:34.32. Eliza Nelson also made her first appearance in the event, turning in a 6:14.40 effort.
Montreat entered three athletes in the 800m, led by Natalia Nieto. Nieto paced the Cavaliers with a 36th place showing in a 77-competitor field, recording a time of 2:31.85. Jasmine Hernandez followed three positions later in 2:34.78, while Anna Baugh capped off the group in 43rd at 2:35.49.
Aubrey Bahner and Carlyn Bobo delivered two of the team's top performances in the 3000m, each earning top-10 finishes. Bahner placed fifth in a 29-runner field with a time of 10:32.68, and Bobo secured ninth in 10:46.11.
The 4x400m relay team of Emma Barnes, Hernandez, Baugh and Nieto closed out the track events, finishing ninth out of 12 teams with a time of 4:19.65.
In the shot put, Barnes finished 34th out of 60 throwers with her distance of 10.65m. Isis Rain Giron also participated in the shot put for Montreat. She completed the event in 47th, securing a distance of 10.26m.

The Montreat College women's track & field team returns to action next Friday and Saturday for the Camel City Invitational at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
