KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the latest edition of its Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 on Thursday morning, with the Montreat College women's cross country team earning votes for the second consecutive month. The recognition marks the Cavaliers' 40th straight appearance in the national rankings.
One of 12 programs to receive votes outside the top 25, Montreat collected 60 points to rank 28th overall. The Cavs finished 42 points behind Saint Mary (Neb.) and 34 points ahead of Governors State (Ill.). Fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) member Milligan (Tenn.) landed third with six first-place votes and 528 points, while Dordt (Iowa) moved into the top spot with 12 first-place votes and 549 points.
The Cavs last competed on Sept. 25 at the Tryon Western NC XC Showcase in Mill Spring, N.C. Despite battling illness, the Cavaliers finished seventh among 12 teams. Macy Parks paced Montreat with an eighth-place finish in the 5k, clocking a personal-best time of 18:25.0. The senior earned her second AAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade of the season a few days later for her performance.
