Women’s track & field achieves highest national rating in program history

NEW ORLEANS— Just one week after matching its highest national rating in program history, the Montreat women's track & field team officially raised the bar. According to the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI), the Cavaliers moved up two spots to No. 7 in the country.

Along with achieving its program-best national rating, the Montreat women's track & field team also garnered a record number of points in the TFRI. The Cavs totaled 202.64 points overall, 6.86 points fewer than No. 6 Cumberlands (Ky.) but 8.39 points more than No. 8 Life (Ga.).

Three Cavaliers combine to possess five top-five performances in the NAIA this season. Heather Murphy still owns the fastest 10k time in 2025, as well as the third-quickest 5000m showing. Jessica Gakeri currently stands at No. 2 on the NAIA triple jump leaderboard. Meanwhile, Dylan Garcia ranks fourth and fifth in the 1500m and 800m, respectively.
