WALESKA, Ga.— For the fourth time in her collegiate tenure and the second time in her outdoor career, Montreat College's Jessica Gakeri is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, that according to a release from the league office Monday afternoon.
 
Gakeri captured three first-place finishes last weekend at the Montreat College Open, but her standout performance came in the triple jump. A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Gakeri met the NAIA 'A' standard in the event with a mark of 12.07m. The senior also dazzled in the long jump, beating out a field of 15 competitors with a 5.46m leap.
 
Fast on the track as well, Gakeri aided the 4x100m relay unit in achieving first place. She and her teammates needed just 50.63 seconds to conclude their sprints.

Gakeri and the Montreat women's track & field team head to a pair of meets this upcoming weekend. The Cavaliers will be at the Raleigh Relays from Thursday through Saturday, as well as the Gotta Run Invite on Friday and Saturday.
