WALESKA, Ga.— For the second time this season, a Montreat College men's basketball player picked up a weekly offensive award. According to a release from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) office on Monday,
Aden Taylor joined
RJ Manginello as the only Cavaliers to garner AAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week recognition during 2025-26. This marks Taylor's first such honor as a Cav.
Displaying consistency and efficiency, Taylor helped Montreat along to a 1-1 record last week. The Cavaliers captured a 105-84 victory versus Milligan University after falling to Bryan College via a 79-73 final. Led by his efforts, the Cavs managed to register their season-high in points scored (105), as well as their best single-game field goal percentage (65.5 percent) in over 10 years, against the Buffaloes.
A native of Charleston, S.C., Taylor averaged 22.5 points per game while shooting lights out all over the floor. The Davidson-Davie Community College transfer made 52.9 percent of his looks from the field (9-17 FG), 50.0 percent of his tries from deep (5-10 3-pt FG) and 91.7 percent of his attempts at the charity stripe (22-24 FT). In addition to his scoring, Taylor also contributed 6.5 rebounds per contest and 2.5 assists per game.
Not just an offensive threat, Taylor left his mark on the defensive side of the court as well. The junior recorded four steals and three blocks across 56 minutes of action.
