Women’s basketball announces slate for upcoming 2025-26 season

MONTREAT, N.C.— Unveiling its 2025-26 slate earlier this year, the Montreat College women's basketball team is geared up and ready for a campaign that includes 27 regular season contests, 20 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) showdowns, 11 home games and a pair of exhibitions against NCAA Division I institutions.

The Cavaliers begin the year by playing their initial four games at a pair of classics. On Oct. 24-25, the Cavs head to Montgomery, Ala. for the Jimmy Faulkner Classic. Just one weekend later, the squad travels to Owensboro, Ky. for the Kentucky Bluegrass Classic.

Montreat opens its home slate and AAC schedule in the month of November. On the 8th, the Cavaliers welcome Carolina University to town for their first ballgame on their home court. Four days after, the Cavs visit Union Commonwealth University for the beginning of league action.

Following a home matchup versus the University of Pikeville on Nov. 22, the Cavaliers kick off a three-game road trip that includes the program's first exhibition of the year at USC Upstate. Montreat also takes on Western Carolina University in late December for its second and final exhibition clash.

Home just twice in the month of December, the Cavs host Bryan College (Dec. 10) and reigning AAC Tournament champion Milligan University (Dec. 13) prior to Christmas Break.

A packed January schedule features five home contests among nine total games for the Cavaliers. Montreat starts the month with three of its initial four matchups at home, including Union Commonwealth on Jan 3. The Cavs also finish the month in familiar surroundings when Truett McConnell University visits on the 31st.

After playing one final nonconference game at Carolina to open February, Montreat closes out its regular season with four straight AAC foes. On Feb. 11 and Feb. 14, the Cavaliers host Tennessee Wesleyan University and Bluefield University, respectively. The Cavs then conclude the 2025-26 regular season slate with back-to-back road trips to Dayton, Tenn. and Pikeville, Ky.

With a solid campaign in league play, Montreat aims to be among the 10 teams competing at the 2026 AAC Tournament. This year's conference tournament is scheduled for Feb. 25-28 at the Marriott Meadowview Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
