BLUEFIELD, W.Va.— The Montreat women's wrestling team opened its final week of the regular season Wednesday evening by heading to West Virginia for a non-conference dual versus the Bluefield State University Big Blue. With just two available wrestlers in the lineup, the Cavaliers came up short on the road, falling 30-0 against their NCAA Division II foe and dropping to 2-7 on the year.
 
Bluefield State (4-5) held a 20-0 lead over the Cavs before bouts began due to four double forfeits and four Montreat forfeits; however, the two sides battled for team points at 130 and 155.
 
Charlotte Wheeler represented the visitors in the 130-lb weight class, and Nicole Lewis wrestled at 155. Despite their best efforts, both Cavaliers suffered defeats via fall, sealing a 30-0 win for BSU.
 
The Montreat women's wrestling team concludes its regular-season schedule on Saturday night with its first home dual in program history. Bouts between the Cavaliers and the eighth-ranked University of the Cumberlands Patriots are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. inside McAlister Gymnasium.
