SACRAMENTO, Calif.— The Montreat women's track & field team sent a pair of student-athletes to Sacramento, Calif. on Sunday for the NAIA Marathon Classic, which was run in conjunction with the California International Marathon. Representing the Cavaliers on the national stage,
Ali Ray and
Carlyn Bobo each snagged a top-five spot among the 46 NAIA women's finishers.
Ray placed runner-up against a competitive women's field. Needing less than three hours to conclude her 26.2-mile run, Ray ultimately notched a time of 2:48:25. The Brownsburg, Ind. native averaged 6:26 per mile, and she finished just 78 seconds back of the NAIA Marathon Classic winner.
Bobo delivered a strong performance as well. The sophomore ended her race in 2:58:29, fifth-fastest among the NAIA women's participants. Bobo averaged 6:42 per mile across the 26.2-mile course.

Taking some time off for the Christmas season, Ray, Bobo and the rest of the Montreat women's track & field team return to competition on Jan. 18 with the Mondo College Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
