WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.— The Montreat women's wrestling team competed in pool play at the Patriot Duals hosted by the University of the Cumberlands Patriots on Friday. In the team's four matches, the Cavaliers secured one triumph to move to 2-4 on the year.
 
Montreat began its day with a contest against Liberty University's club team. Three forfeits in favor of the Cavs and two double forfeits resulted in a 15-0 Cavalier lead through half of the bouts. Marissa Delacruz then collected a 10-0 tech fall at 136 to make it 19-0. Though the Flames registered a tech fall and 10 late points, a 17-5 tech fall victory by Nicole Lewis at 155 secured a 23-15 win.
 
Two early Montreat forfeits against Brewton-Parker handed the Barons a 10-0 advantage. After a double forfeit at 116, Trinity Howard picked up the Cavaliers' first points of the dual with a 10-0 tech fall at 123, bringing the score to 10-4. A pair of pins gave BPC a 20-4 lead and, though the Cavs gained 15 points from three late Baron forfeits, Montreat fell by one, 20-19.
 
The Cavaliers then faced stout competition in the No. 9 Campbellsville University Tigers. Three forfeits from the Cavs immediately gifted the Tigers a 15-0 edge before three pins brought the score to 30-0. Two more forfeits and another fall made it 45-0 before Lacie-Lee Parris avoided a pin and captured the team's lone point by scoring two individual points in a 12-2 defeat at 191 as the matchup ended 49-1.
 
In the Cavaliers' final dual of the day, a battle against Siena Heights University, Montreat won an individual matchup. SHU grabbed a 15-0 edge with three forfeits prior to a fall, tech fall and forfeit that brough the score to 29-0. Lewis collected a 10-0 tech fall win at 155 to get the Cavs on the board; however, Siena Heights closed out the match with nine additional points in the 38-4 result.
 
Women's wrestling now heads to the Huntingdon Duals on Nov. 9.
