GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Montreat women's wrestling team took on a pair of NCAA Division II opponents Sunday afternoon as part of a tri-dual hosted by Limestone University in Gaffney, S.C. With five athletes in the competing lineup, the Cavaliers dropped both duals, falling 37-6 against the University of Mount Olive Trojans before suffering a 35-9 defeat at the hands of the Limestone University Saints.
 
After Ivana Munoz opened the Cavs' dual versus Mount Olive with a forfeit win at 101, the Trojans controlled the action the rest of the way. Utilizing four forfeits, three tech falls and a pin, Mount Olive sprinted past the Cavaliers to grab a 37-6 win. Michaiah Allen picked up Montreat's lone point after the Munoz forfeit triumph via a 13-3 tech fall defeat at 123.
 
Following a series of forfeits through the opening three bouts against Limestone, Trinity Howard handed the Cavs a 9-5 lead on the scoreboard. The Queen Creek, Ariz. native shutout her opponent at 123 to the tune of a 10-0 tech fall, putting the visitors back in front; however, the Saints claimed the ensuing six bouts, three via pins and three via forfeits, to top the Cavaliers in the dual, 35-9.
 
The Montreat women's wrestling team closes out its regular-season slate on Sunday with a return trip to Gaffney, S.C. for the Limestone Open.
