MOUNT VERNON, Ga.— The Montreat women's wrestling team started its Saturday in Mount Vernon, Ga. with a handful of tough results, but the Cavaliers bounced back in a big way by winning their final two matchups at the Baron Duals. After today's results, the Cavs' season record now stands at 3-12 overall.
 
Montreat began its day with a tightly-contested matchup against the Limestone University Saints, an NCAA Division II foe. Following a series of early forfeits that put the Cavaliers in front, 10-0, No. 10-ranked Trinity Howard and Bella Hoffman continued to rack up the points. Wrestling at 123, Howard registered a pin in 2:06. Meanwhile, Hoffman cruised to a 10-0 tech fall at 130. Unfortunately for the Cavs, Limestone controlled the dual from there. Nicole Lewis earned a point at 155 during a 9-2 defeat, but the Saints scored big points down the stretch and squeezed past Montreat thanks to a 23-20 final score.
 
The Cavaliers faced stiff opposition during their following two duals. First, Montreat dropped a 49-0 result against the No. 3-ranked Life University Running Eagles. Then, the Cavs failed to get by the No. 17-ranked Brewton-Parker College Barons. Howard notched Montreat's lone triumph during the tough stretch with her 3-2 decision victory at 123 against BPC. Chloe Carver registered a point against the Barons as well during her 14-4 defeat at 109.
 
Despite the slow start, the Cavaliers still had plenty in the tank. After beginning the day with a trio of losses, the Cavs got back on track with a comfortable 29-1 win over NCAA Division II opponent Lincoln Memorial University. Wrestling at 136, Michaiah Allen scored an 11-1 tech fall in the only contested match of the dual. Meanwhile, five of Allen's teammates tallied forfeit wins.
 
In a similar fashion, Montreat defeated Brewton-Parker College Red in its final action of the afternoon, 24-15. A native of Asheville, N.C., Allen recorded another tech fall triumph, this time via a 12-2 score at 130. The Cavaliers also hauled in four forfeit victories to secure their second consecutive dual win of the day.

The Montreat women's wrestling team now enters a month-long break for the holidays but returns to competition on Jan. 11 for a Mid-South Conference dual at No. 3 Life University.
