MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.— The Montreat women's wrestling team competed in its first dual in program history Wednesday night as the Cavaliers traveled to the University of Mount Olive. Though the Cavs notched four individual triumphs, the team fell by a score of 24-18 to drop to 0-1 in duals on the season.
After an early forfeit gave Mount Olive a 5-0 advantage,
Chloe Carver pulled the Cavaliers within one point thanks to her 10-0 victory in 1:57 at 116.
Trinity Howard then gave Montreat a 7-6 lead after her 13-4 decision at 123.
UMO (2-0) regained its edge following a pair of triumphs; however, the 143 and 155-lb weight classes scored significant points for the visitors.
Gabriella Majewsky earned a pin of her opposition in the 143-lb bout and
Nicole Lewis collected a pin at 155 to give the Cavaliers an 18-14 lead with two matches remaining.
Despite the late advantage, Montreat dropped the final two bouts, one via fall and one via forfeit, as the home side took the competition by six points.

Women's wrestling now travels to Williamsburg, Ky. for the Patriot Duals hosted by the University of the Cumberlands on Dec. 2 and 3.
