Tim Lewis is entering his fifth year at the helm of Montreat College Women’s Basketball. Lewis took over as the program's Interim Head Coach in January of 2018. Lewis was later promoted as the program's full-time Head Coach in April of 2018.

Lewis has seen several of his players receive AAC awards, especially over the past two seasons. During the 2019-20 season, Zharia Brown earned a spot on the AAC Second Team. During the 2020-21 season, Brown gained an AAC First Team nod, while Caleigh Raby secured a spot on the AAC Second Team. Lewis also landed five on the AAC All-Academic Team during the 2019-2020 season and six during the 2018-2019 season.

Before taking the head job for the women’s team, Lewis spent three years as an assistant coach for the men’s program where he helped turn the program around from a 4-20 record in 2015-16 to 19-10 (12-8 AAC) in 2016-17. The team finished 21-10 overall in Lewis’ third year.

Prior to coaching at Montreat, Lewis spent a year at Milligan College as an assistant coach for men's basketball under former Montreat College head coach/athletic director Bill Robinson. Lewis helped guide the Buffs to a 20-11 (12-6 AAC) record in 2014-15, a season that included a runner-up conference finish, an appearance in the conference tournament title game and a berth to the NAIA National Tournament.

Lewis was a four-year member of the Montreat College men’s basketball team from 2004-2007 where he was twice named to the AAC All-Conference First Team. He was also named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Team in 2007. Lewis earned the honor of Montreat College Champion of Character in 2006 and 2007 and AAC Champion of Character in 2007, in addition to AAC All-Academic team for 2005-2007.

Lewis graduated from Montreat College in 2007 with a B.A. in business administration and sport management, and has since then obtained his M.S. in leadership and management in 2018.

Upon graduation, Lewis played professionally for a year in Macedonia and also had the opportunity to participate in several international tours with Athletes in Action and Crossfire Ministries in countries including Canada, Philippines, South Africa, Argentina, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Romania.

Lewis and his wife, Chelsea, reside in Asheville, N.C. with their son, Jabari.
