Matt Harner was hired to the Montreat College women's basketball staff as an assistant coach in June of 2025. He enters his first season with the program in 2025-26.
PRIOR TO MONTREAT

Prior to arriving at Montreat, Harner spent 2024-25 serving as an assistant coach with the Cedarville University men’s basketball program. Working at his alma mater, the Cedarville, Ohio native coached two all-conference players.

Also with experience at the prep level, Harner led the Southeastern High School girls’ basketball team from 2017-2023. During his time coaching with the school, Southeastern picked up one Player of the Year and six First Team All-Conference honors. Harner coached the Highland Park Hurricanes from 2016-17 as well.

Before jumping into coaching at the high school ranks, Harner spent 2013-15 as an assistant at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. He also secured his master’s degree in educational leadership from OKU in 2015.

Graduating in 2011 from Cedarville, Harner picked up his bachelor’s degree in physical education while playing basketball for four seasons. He netted more than 1,000 career points during his time as a Yellow Jacket.
