PRIOR TO MONTREAT

Powell was picked to guide the clay target shooting squad after several years of valuable experience in the field. Not only did the Mars Hill graduate act as a skeet instructor for six years at the Greenville Gun Club in Greenville, S.C., but Powell also introduced new trap shooters to the basics of the sport as a trap instructor at the Watauga Gun Club in Boone, N.C.

While teaching both skeet and trap shooters the fundamentals of shooting, Powell competed in several shooting competitions.

He became the back-to-back Steel Man Handicap Trap Champion, while also being named the Summer Trap Champion in the early 2000s. Powell was the 2003 Club Trap Champion at Watauga Gun Club, breaking 98/100 targets and 92 straight to begin the competition. He brings a combined 12 years of sport memberships between the National Skeet Shooting Association and the Amateur Trapshooting Association to the table, as well as 12 years of training experience.

Powell resides in Asheville, N.C.
