Nathan Fruh

The Montreat College athletic department named Nathan Fruh the interim tennis coach heading into the 2023 season. Fruh is enters his second year with the Cavaliers during the 2023-24 school year.

YEAR-BY-YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

2023
  • Men: Finished 7-6 (6-4 AAC) on the year to clinch first back-to-back winning seasons in program history.
  • Advanced to the semifinal round of the conference tournament after securing No. 4 seed in the AAC Tournament.
  • Ranked as high as No. 17 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
  • Men's athlete achievements: 1 All-Conference (First Team), 1 AAC Player of the Week, 2 CSC Academic All-District, 1 CSC Academic All-America Second Team, 4 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes. 
  • Women: Undeclared in the sport for 2022-23 school year.

PRIOR TO MONTREAT

Fruh coaches at Montreat after time spent at the Pantovic Tennis Academy in Fairhope, Ala., the Wheaton Sports Center High Performance Academy in Chicago and the Hay Harbor Tennis Club in New York.

Before developing athletes, Fruh played tennis at two NCAA colleges. The Fairhope, Ala. native spent his first two years at the University of South Alabama prior to transferring to Wheaton College for a season. He graduated from Wheaton with a degree in political science in 2021 and is currently studying for a master’s in higher education & student development from his alma mater.

Fruh, who also works as a residence director on campus, lives in Montreat.
