BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The Montreat College men's and women's cross country teams promoted their 2026 schedules earlier this week. With both programs set to follow identical slates, the Cavaliers are preparing for a six-meet fall campaign.
The Cavs open the season on Sept. 4 at the Bruins Cross Country Night Classic, hosted by Bob Jones University. After a three-week break, the teams return to competition on Sept. 25 at the Tryon Collegiate Cross Country Showcase in Mill Spring, N.C.
Remaining in North Carolina to begin October, the Cavaliers run at the Royals Cross Country Challenge on the 9th. The event is hosted by Queens University of Charlotte, an NCAA Division I institution. Two weeks later, the Cavs travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the NAIA Appalachian Challenge, which wraps up the regular season for both squads.
Postseason competition begins in November with the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Cross Country Championships, scheduled for the 6th in Knoxville, Tenn. With strong showings at the conference meet, Montreat aims to secure one of the NAIA's automatic qualifying berths or to earn an at-large bid to the NAIA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20 in Vancouver, Wash.
