WALESKA, Ga. — The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) selected
Shelby Brown of Montreat College as its newest AAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, that according to a release from the league office on Monday night. For Brown, the award marked her first as a Cavalier, as well as the third of the 2026 outdoor season for the Cavs.
Brown spent Friday afternoon in Brevard, N.C. at the Tornado Classic on the campus of Brevard College. The Pasadena, Md. native participated in both the hammer and discus events, the first of which she utilized a school-record mark to claim first place. Brown broke Montreat's hammer record by 0.77m and her own personal best by 6.24m with her 40.79m showing. The performance beat out nine other throwers for the event title. Meanwhile, Brown ended seventh out of 13 in the discus, registering a top distance of 24.13m.

Brown and the Montreat College women's track & field team head to a pair of meets on Friday and Saturday. The Cavaliers plan to send competitors to the Asheville Bulldog Invite in Asheville, N.C., as well as the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational in Hickory, N.C.
