HARROGATE, Tenn—Montreat College's women's tennis team visited the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters for a full day of tennis action. The Cavaliers lost both singles and doubles matches, conceding the team contest 5-0. The Cavaliers fell to a 0-2 record after the defeat.
The Railsplitters attacked the Cavaliers quickly, capturing the doubles point after two swift match victories, 6-3 and 6-1.
Clara Roman and
Annika Rojas scored three points in their loss, while
Ainhoa Ordonez and
Chiharu Ito scored just one point in the doubles match defeat.
Although a Cavalier did not win a set in the individual matches, Ito won the most games for Montreat with seven. Roman won six, all in the first set, and Ordonez won five games. Rojas won three games in her singles match.
The Cavaliers look ahead to their next matchup on Tuesday when they travel to Belmont, N.C. to face another NCAA Division II opponent in the Belmont Abbey Crusaders.
