West Point, GA - The Montreat College men's soccer team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2015 Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament after defeating Point University 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Both teams were locked in a defensive battle until Dale McClelland (SO/Ayr, Scotland) found the top left corner of the goal in the 86th minute in what proved to be the game-winner.

Miguel Tudon (SO/Vila-Real, Spain) had four saves in goal for the Cavaliers (8-6-2), who earned their third shutout of the season. Montreat will advance to take on #1 seed Bryan College on Saturday, November 7 at 7pm.

Asheville, NC - The seedings and pairings for the 2015 Appalachian Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament were released on Sunday. The Montreat College men's soccer team (7-6-2) will enter the tournament as the #9 seed and will travel to take on #8 seed Point University on Tuesday, November 3. The match time has not yet been set.

Black Mountain, NC - The Montreat men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season in strong fashion, defeating Laurel University 9-1 on Saturday afternoon at Howard Fisher Memorial Field. 

The Cavaliers scored early and often in the early going, netting five first-half goals. Esgardo Arroyo (SR/Buford, GA) was responsible for the first three goals for Montreat, with Dale McClelland (SO/Ayr, Scotland) and Marco Diaz (FR/Asheboro, NC) also scoring for the Cavaliers in the first half.

The second half saw the offensive explosion continue, as Arroyo netted his fourth goal early in the period. The final three goals were scored by a pair of seniors who were honored before the match as part of the team's Senior Day festivities. Michael Anthony (SR/Xenia, Ohio) scored two consecutive goals before Nick Horton (SR/Troutman, NC) found the back of the net for the final tally of the match.

Montreat (7-6-2) will hit the road on Tuesday, November 3 as they begin play in the 2015 Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament. The Cavaliers earned the #9 seed and will travel to Georgia to take on #8 seed Point University. Match time is still to be determined.
