BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Montreat College men's basketball team dropped a 90-67 decision to Union (KY) College on Tuesday night in Appalachian Athletic Conference action. 

The Bulldogs, ranked #11 in the latest NAIA national rankings, asserted themselves early, opening up a 65-25 lead at halftime. The Cavaliers (5-2, 0-2 AAC) were able to get going in the second half and outscored Union by 17 points but the first-half deficit was too much to overcome.

Alonzo Mobley (SO/Lincolnton, NC) led the team with 16 points while Amire Lewis (SO/Bronx, NY) added eight points. Jordan Eaton (FR/Atlanta, GA) and Spencer Norris (SO/Sylva, NC) both had six rebounds. 

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, November 30th when they host Point University at 7:30pm.

MONTREAT, NC - The Montreat College men's basketball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday night, defeating St. Andrews 100-94 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference opener.

The Cavaliers (5-0) would trail only once in the first half, surrendering the opening basket of the game. From there, Montreat would take control and would push their lead to as many as 17 before taking a 49-35 lead into halftime. The Cavaliers were very efficient offensively in the first half connecting on 61% (22-36) from the floor in addition to knocking down 4-7 three-point attempts. 

In the second half, the Montreat lead grew to 19 when Spencer Norris (SO/Sylva, NC) scored to make the advantage 55-36 just 74 seconds into the frame. From there, the Knights would come alive as they ripped off a 26-6 run to take a 62-61 lead with 12:12 left in the contest. The game remained tight from that point on with neither team holding more than a three point lead until an Alonzo Mobley (SO/Lincolnton, NC) bucket gave the Cavaliers an 88-83 lead with 2:15 remaining. The Knights would again cut the Montreat lead to as little as two points but a timely three-point play from Norris in the closing seconds sealed the victory for Montreat.

Norris was the leading scorer for the Cavaliers, collecting 24 points on 8-12 shooting, including 3-5 from three-point range while also collecting six rebounds. David Everage (JR/Las Vegas, NV) scored 20 points on 10-11 shooting while Alonzo Mobley filled up the stat sheet with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Patrick Roulette (SO/Fort Lauderdale, FL) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds while Amire Lewis (SO/Bronx, NY) scored 10 points to go along with 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

For the game, the Cavaliers shot an impressive 58% (40-68) while connecting on 42% (8-19) of their three-point attempts. The team held a 41-34 rebounding advantage over St. Andrews while dishing out 23 assists as a team.

Montreat will look to push the win streak to six as they travel to face Allen University at 4:00pm on Saturday, November 19th.

GREENVILLE, SC - The Montreat College men's basketball team picked up their second win in less than 24 hours, defeating Piedmont International University 96-77 on Saturday afternoon in their final game in the Bob Jones Bruins Invitational. 

The Cavaliers (4-0) shot 24-44 (55%) in the first half to help propel them to a 62-40 lead going into halftime. Montreat also hit six three-pointers in the first half while limiting the Crusaders to 37% shooting. The Cavaliers used their big lead to give some younger players playing time in the second half and ended up having sixteen players collect minutes on the floor with fourteen of them finding their way to the scoring column.

Austin Butler (FR/Morganton, NC) was one of four Montreat players in double-figure scoring, leading the team with 20 points on 6-8 shooting, including a 5-7 clip from three-point range. David Everage (JR/Las Vegas, NV) was a strong presence in the post, scoring 16 points while collecting nine rebounds. Patrick Roulette (SO/Fort Lauderdale, FL) scored 13 points while Alonzo Mobley (SO/Lincolnton, NC) scored 10 for the Cavaliers, who pushed their winning streak to four games to start the season.

Montreat will open up Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, November 16th when they host St. Andrews University. Tipoff in McAlister Gymnasium is set for 7:30pm.
