MONTREAT, NC - The Montreat College men's basketball team fell to Appalachian Athletic Conference rival St. Andrews 88-84 on Wednesday night in McAlister Gymnasium. The Cavaliers went into halftime with a 45-40 advantage but the Knights were able to gain control of the contest in the second half and escaped with the victory.
Myles Marshall (JR/Brooklyn, NY) had an outstanding effort for Montreat, scoring 30 points on 12-20 shooting. Marshall also pulled down 9 rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals. Spencer Norris (FR/Sylva, NC) was the only other Cavs player in double figures as the freshman notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Alonzo Mobley (SO/Lincolnton, NC) cored 9 points, while pulling down 7 rebounds and dishing out a team-high five assists.
Montreat (2-13, 1-9 AAC) will travel to take on #19 Tennessee-Wesleyan on Saturday, January 23rd. Tipoff time is set for 4pm.
The Montreat College women's and men's basketball games scheduled for this evening are on schedule and will be contested.
The women's team will play St. Andrews at 5:30pm in McAlister Gymnasium with the men's cstontest, also against St. Andrews, starting at 7:30pm.
Fans are advised to use caution as they travel to McAlister Gym tonight to enjoy the games.
MONTREAT, NC - The Montreat College men's basketball team fell to Point University 81-61 on Wednesday night at McAlister Gymnasium. The Cavaliers (2-12, 1-8 AAC) went into halftime down 42-21 and were unable to cut into the lead as the Skyhawks pulled away in the second half.
Alonzo Mobley (SO/Lincolnton, NC) scored 10 points to go along with seven rebounds. Sean Doman (SO/Queens, NY) also scored ten points and added six rebounds and three assists. Christopher Ketter (JR/Hartsville, SC) pulled down 10 rebounds while scoring nine points for Montreat.
The Cavaliers return to action on Wednesday, January 20th when they play host to Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent St. Andrews. Tipoff is set for 7:30pm.
