BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC – The Montreat College women's soccer team picked up a big win, shutting out Hiwassee College 6-0 on Saturday afternoon at Pulliam Stadium.

The Cavaliers got off to a fast start as Alanna Castaneda (SO/Dallas, TX) found the back of the net only 21 seconds into the match. The sophomore would lead the charge in the first half as she also scored in the 23rd and 33rd minutes before assisting on a goal from Megan Powell (JR/Asheville, NC) in the 36th minute. The Cavaliers would hold that 4-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Kelsey West (FR/Charlotte, NC) scored her first career collegiate goal in the 58th minute while Elizabeth Cerrina (SO/Lehigh Acres, FL) wrapped up the scoring for the Cavaliers with a strike early in the 72nd minute. The Montreat defense was stifling all afternoon, holding Hiwassee without a shot on goal for the match.

Montreat (2-4) will be back in action on Tuesday, September 13th when they travel to take on Bob Jones University. Match time is set for 8pm.

BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC - The Montreat College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to The University of the Cumberlands on Monday afternoon at Howard Fisher Memorial Field. 

The Cavaliers surrendered one goal in each half and were outshot 41-8 for the match. Goalkeeper Jordan DeVaan (JR/Asheville, NC) turned away 12 shots on the match. 

Montreat will be back in action on Friday, September 9th when they host Southeastern University for a 6:00pm match.

MONTREAT, NC – The Montreat College women's soccer team got a big win in their 2016 home opener, knocking off Rio Grande 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Howard Fisher Memorial Field.

The Cavaliers got on the board early, when Alanna Castaneda (SO/Dallas, TX) converted a penalty kick early in the 8th minute. From there, the Cavaliers would give a tremendous defensive effort, keeping Rio Grande off of the scoreboard despite getting off 33 shots.

Jordan DeVaan (JR/Asheville, NC) played a stellar game in goal, collecting 12 saves while shutting out the Red Storm attack.

The Cavaliers will be back in action on Monday, September 5th when they take on The University of the Cumberlands at 3pm at Howard Fisher Memorial Field.
