Connor Townsend, the daughter of Richard and Tori Townsend, will be joining the Montreat College softball program for the 2013-14 season. Connor is considering a sociology or human services major at Montreat.
After a week off due to inclement weather, the Montreat Cavaliers softball team traveled to Milligan College on Wednesday before hosting Tennessee Wesleyan on Thursday. The Cavaliers could not pull out a win putting them 1-9 in conference play.
The Cavaliers took to the road to play Milligan College on Wednesday, but couldn't halt the Buffaloes bats, losing game one 3-5 and game two 4-6. The Cavaliers only had three hits the first game coming from Alecia Rhinehart (1B, HR) and Victoria Hull (2B). Hull started on the mound for the Cavs pitching four innings, when Brittany Gallaher came in to finish the game, taking the loss. Game two brought Megan Recher to the mound pitching four innings for the Cavaliers. The Cavs got in a hole quick with Milligan outscoring them 0-5 through 4 innings. Montreat finally got on the board in the 5th inning after Ashley Chavira hit a two-run shot over the centerfield fence, closing the gap to 2-5. The Cavs scored 2 more runs in the 6th but were unable to put any more together.
