BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC - The Montreat College softball team dropped a double-header at home to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Truett-McConnell on Tuesday afternoon.

In the first game, the Bears jumped out to an eleven run lead after three innings and cruised to a 14-3 win. The Cavalier runs came on nine hits, including two each from Aubree Sluder (FR/Asheville, NC), Desirae Bebber (JR/Catfish, NC), and Ashlyn Vickers (FR/Ellenboro, NC). In the second game, the Cavaliers fell victim to a strong pitching performance from Bears pitchers Taylor Nix and Carson Hagin, who combined to throw a no-hitter in an 8-0 win for Truett-McConnell. 

The team will return to action on Saturday, April 23rd when they travel to take on Belmont-Abbey for a double-header set to begin at 2pm.

BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC - The Montreat College softball team dropped a pair of games to Reinhardt University in Appalachian Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

In the first game, Montreat jumped out to a 3-1 lead after three innings but allowed the Eagles to score a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead. Reinhardt would add a final run in the seventh to wrap up a 6-3 win. Aubree Sluder (FR/Asheville, NC) blasted a first inning home run while Megan Recher (SR/Waxhaw, NC) picked up two hits and scored a run. Ashlyn Vickers (FR/Ellenboro, NC) and MaKayla Thompson both picked up an RBI for the Cavaliers.

In the second game, it was all Reinhardt as the visitors held Montreat to only three hits in an 8-0 victory. Sluder, Thompson, and Morgan Meredith (SO/Coalfield, TN) all got base hits for the Cavaliers but the team was unable to get any sustained offense going as the Eagles used a three-run first inning to jump out to an early lead they would hold on to for the reaminder of the contest. 

The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 19th as they host North Greenville for a double-header beginning at 2pm at Roxy Hines Field.

BLACK MOUNAIN, NC - The Montreat College softball team picked up a key victory over the weekend as they hosted a pair of Appalachian Athletic Conference opponents at Roxy Hines Field.

On Saturday, the Cavaliers played Bryan College in a double header. In the first game, the Cavaliers went up 2-0 in the first inning when a Connor Townsend (JR/Morganton, NC) base hit to left field drove in a pair of runs. However, the Lions would clamp down from there and would use a four-run sixth inning to come out with a 4-2 victory. The Cavaliers collected seven hits, three coming from Aubree Sluder (FR/Asheville, NC) who tripled and added a stolen base. Karley Yeager (JR/Arden, NC) picked up a pair of hits while Ashlyn Vickers (FR/Ellenboro, NC) added a double.

In the second game, the Lions were able to string together at least one run in five different innings while limiting the Cavaliers to four hits in an 7-0 victory. Montreat got base hits from Sluder, Yeager, Hunter Campbell (JR/Lincolnton, NC), and Morgan Meredith (SO/Coalfield, TN) but were unable to get on the scoreboard.

On Sunday, the Cavaliers played host to Milligan College. In the first game, the Buffs got going early and used a three-run fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. The Cavaliers got going in the bottom of the inning when they exploded for nine runs. At one point, seven consecutive Montreat batters reached base as the team worked well through the entire batting order. The Cavaliers would add three more runs in the sixth after using a string of hits to pad their lead and run away with a 12-4 victory. The team collected eleven hits on the game and Morgan Meredith led the way with three hits and a pair of RBI. The Cavaliers also got a two RBI efforts from Aubree Sluder, Connor Townsend, and Megan Recher (SR/Waxhaw, NC).

In the second game, Milligan took control early and rolled to a 10-0 victory. Montreat was limited to only three hits while allowing the Buffs to score in five of the six innings. Sluder, Sydney McAbee, and Desirae Bebber (JR/Catfish, NC) all collected hits for Montreat.

The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 16th when they host #16 Reinhardt in an AAC matchup set to begin at 1pm.
