"I would like to thank Athletic Director Larios, President Maurer, and the entire Montreat College community for the incredible opportunity to lead this program. I am very excited to become a part of the Cavalier family and look forward to leading these men and women on and off the course". In just his first year as head coach, Coach Sullivan successfully recruited the largest freshman class in the history of the Montreat golf program, doubling the size of both the men's and women's team, a major step forward in re-building and re-vitalizing a program that had been dormant for several years. In just their first season, the men's team made significant strides and secured their highest finish ever in the AAC Conference Championship, setting both new team and individual scoring records, while also boasting an overall team GPA of 3.2. Under Coach Sullivan, 7 players have earned AAC All-Academic honors.
Sullivan is a 4 time member of the PGA President's Council on "Growing the Game" and is active in Get Golf Ready Development Programs and Play Golf America.
John and his wife Caitlin live in Asheville. Originally from Charlotte, he graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC with a degree in Business Administration and Professional Golf Management and minor in Marketing.
