John Sullivan begins his fourth season at the helm of the Cavalier golf program at Montreat College.

Sullivan came to Montreat after serving at many high-end golf facilities throughout the Southeast, including The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa as assistant golf professional, Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, GA, and most recently, Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville. A Class "A" PGA certified golf professional and member of the PGA of America, Sullivan has extensive experience in both instruction and club fitting and is currently a Ping and Titleist certified club fitter. An accomplished player, John has excelled in various tournaments throughout the state.

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Larios, President Maurer, and the entire Montreat College community for the incredible opportunity to lead these young men and women. I look forward to building a nationally recognized golf program here at Montreat." Tasked with rebuilding the golf program from the ground up, Sullivan brought in the largest recruiting class in school history, a major step forward in re-building and revitalizing a program that had been dormant for several years. Under Coach Sullivan, the Cavaliers squad rose to a new level of competitiveness as the men's team secured their highest finish ever in the Appalachian Athletic Conference standings, while setting both new team and individual scoring records. Since Sullivan's arrival in 2014, the golf program now boasts the largest ream rosters in school history, while posting an overall team GPA of 3.2, with 8 players having earned AAC All Conference honors, 1 AAC All Tournament Team member, and 1 Daktronics Scholar Athlete.

Sullivan is a 4 time member of the PGA President's Council on "Growing the Game", an honor bestowed on golf professionals who have excelled in leadership, player development, and the promotion of the game to all sectors of players. He is also active in Get Golf Ready development programs as well as Play Golf America. Originally from Charlotte, Sullivan graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC with a degree in Business Administration, an emphasis in Professional Golf Management (PGM), and a minor in Marketing. He is currently pursuing his graduate degree in Management & Leadership from Montreat.

John and his wife Caitlin live in south Asheville.
