Cavs softball takes the road for games against Brenau University, Point University, and Bryan College.
The Cavs dropped 2 games quick against Brenau University. Game 1 had Allison Cochran on the mound as the Cavs could not get any runs across the plate. The Cavs had only 3 hits during the first game coming off the bats of Ashley Myers (double), Brittany Draughn (single), and Cochran (double). With no hitting to support them, they were left on base and the Cavs fell 8-0 to Brenau in 6 innings. Game 2 had Dakota Icard on the mound for the Cavs, but the Cavs would get run ruled by having 8 errors and allowing 16 runs, while only have 3 hits of their own from the bats of Draughn (2 singles) and Cochran (single).
Friday, April 13, took the Cavs to Point University for conference action. Icard started on the mound for the Cavs. Neither team was able to score runs until the Cavs finally put up 1 in the 5th inning after Holly Warren hit a double and scored on a basehit by Priscilla Silva. The Cavs would not be able to seal the win as Point was able to put up 3 runs in the 6th inning. Game 2 also had Icard on the mound as Point took an early lead by putting up 4 runs in the first 2 innings of play and another 3 in the 6th. The Cavs finally put a run on the board in the 5th inning but broke loose in the 7th scoring 7 runs to seal the win 8-7.
Saturday, April 14, the Cavs took on the Lions of Bryan College in more conference action. The Lions scored first in game 1 putting 2 runs up in the 1st inning, both teams would score 1 in the 2nd inning, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Lions. The Cavs would put up 2 more runs in the 6th, but would allow 1 run in the 7th from the Lions to take the loss 4-3. Game 2 gave the Cavs a win as they put up 3 runs off 7 hits. The hits came off the bats of Silva (3-4, 2 doubles, 1 RBI), Alecia Rhinehart (single, 1 RBI), Jessie Allen (2 singles, 1 RBI), and Warren (single). The final score of game 2 was 3-1.
The Cavs take a week off to prepare for the AAC tournament at Kingsport, TN, April 24-27.
