The Cavaliers women's soccer program is excited to announce the return of Ashley Edwards to the team for the fall 2012 season. Edwards attended Bartlesville High School (OK) in 2009 where she was a 3x Varsity soccer member and earned All-State, All-District, All-Conference and was voted team MVP. After graduating from Bartlesville, she chose to come to Montreat for the fall semester and played soccer for the women's team where she started in every game and was named Co-Captain as a freshman. After a semester at Montreat, Edwards was missing her family and decided to transfer back home where she attended the University of Central Oklahoma and competed for the Bronchos soccer team as a sophomore in 2010.
Feeling called by the Lord, Ashley has spent her 2011-12 school year attending a Christian leadership training program called "The Forge". During this past year at The Forge, Edwards has grown in her faith and identity in Christ and is looking forward to continuing her education in the Christ centered environment provided by Montreat College. In addition to her education, she is most excited about reconnecting with the friends she made as a freshman, the Montreat community and about making an impact on and off the field for the Cavalier soccer team.
Coach Nash had this to say about Ashley's return, "We are absolutely thrilled and thank God for the opportunity to have Ashley be a part of our team and program once again. In the short time she was here as a freshman, she left a lasting positive impression on everyone she met that's not been forgotten. That says a lot about who she is and her character. I'm excited to see how God uses her to help grow and strengthen our team going forward. She is going to be an invaluable asset to us both on and off the field."
Edwards plans to major in Business with a concentration in Marketing and is the daughter of Gary Edwards and Marianna Hall.
