The Cavaliers traveled to Columbia College Wednesday for a double-header in conference play.
Dakota Icard and Ally Cochran combined on the mound in game 1. Icard would take the loss to Columbia with a final score of 3-2. The Cavs scored their only 2 runs in the 1st inning when Holly Warren singled to left, then Emily Renner reached on an error. Ashley Myers would then lay down a bunt to advance the runners and reach 1st herself. Brittany Draughn came to the plate with bases loaded and 2 outs and belted a double off the left field fence scoring Warren and Renner. Despite having several runners on base throughout the rest of the game, the Cavs would be unable to push any more runs across the plate taking the tough one run loss.
Icard took the mound again in the second game, again taking a loss to the Columbia team. The Cavs would put the ball in play all over the field, but it seemed everywhere they hit, was right into the other teams gloves. The only hits of the game came from Renner and Cat Highley. Renner with a homerun in the 4th inning would be the only run of the game. The Cavs fell to Columbia College 6-1
The Cavs take the road again Saturday for a double-header at Virginia Intermont College at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
