First-year Head Softball Coach Vashion Johnson announced Wednesday afternoon the addition of two more recruits for the 2012-13 season.

Megan Recher earned All-State, All-Conference and All-District honors in 2011. She was also named the Most Improved Player for the Cavaliers. Megan is also a standout performer in the classroom with a 4.25 GPA and she is a member of the National Honor Society.

Melanie Recher also earned All-State, All-Conference and All-District honors in 2011. She was named Most Valuable Player and 2A District 6 Pitcher of the Year in 2011. Melanie has an outstanding 3.6 GPA, and English is her favorite subject.

With Megan at third base and Melanie at pitcher and first base, the twins helped the Cuthbertson Cavaliers finish third in the Rocky River 2A Conference and advance to the third round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association State Championships.

"These young ladies are intelligent, athletic, and have championship experience. Any coach would be excited about a 5'10" pitcher and corner infielder.  They also possess a high softball IQ which is a direct reflection of their HS coach...their father"

When asked why Monreat was the college of choice:

"I love Montreat's campus, and I love the opportunity that I am being given. To not only enter a program and be able to start fresh but to be able to attend with my sister is something I'm greatly looking forward to. I cannot wait to continue my softball and education career as a Cavalier." -Melanie

"The transition from being a Cuthbertson Cavalier to becoming a Montreat Cavalier is easy. I can't see myself going anywhere else. I'll be a Cavalier for life!"-Megan

Melanie and Megan are the daughters of Vincent and Sharon Recher.
