The Montreat Cavaliers' women's volleyball team traveled north to face one of its biggest rivals on Tuesday night in Milligan College. In a see-saw affair that saw the teams alternate winning sets through four, the Cavaliers ultimately prevailed, 3-2 (19-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13), in an exciting five-set match.

"I am so proud of this team. We showed a lot of pride tonight," said head coach Kristy Kamer. "Being down 7-1 in the fifth and coming back to win is amazing."

The Cavaliers trailed in the fifth and deciding set by six points but roared back, ultimately knotting the score at 13-13 and from there capturing a 15-13 fifth set win.

Ila Elstein (SO/Jacksonville, FL) had a solid night with a .438 hitting percentage and eight kills, while Anyla Kryeziu (SR/Prishtina, Kosovo) paced the Cavs with 19 kills. Courtney Glover (SR/Nashville, TN) added 17, and Jazzy Larsen (SO/Danville, IN) contributed 13.

Kendra Johnson (SR/Ararat, NC), the current AAC Defender of the Week, had 18 digs for Montreat. Glover added 11, with Hannah Wyngarden (SO/Bristol, IN) tacking on another 10 digs defensively.

With the win, the Cavaliers gained a solid hold on third place within the AAC's North Division. They are 2.5 games back from front-running Union College (20-6, 9-1) and 1.5 games behind Bluefield (11-10, 8-2).

"Staying humble and hungry," remains Kamer's mantra as the team continues on to play four more road contests, all against AAC opponents.

Next up: The Cavaliers face Truett McConnell on Friday in Cleveland, Georgia at 6:30 p.m.. The Bears are 0-12 overall and 0-7 in the conference.
