The Montreat Cavaliers traveled to Dayton, Tennessee to face the Bryan College Lions on Tuesday and returned home with a key AAC victory in hand. It took five sets for the Cavs (5-6, 2-0) to top the Lions (2-10, 1-1) after dropping the first set, 19-25. Montreat bounced back to capture sets two and three before dropping the fourth. The Cavs then won the deciding 15-point fifth set, 15-10. Senior Anyla Kryeziu captured her 1,000 career kill during the match.

The win moved Montreat to 2-0 on the season in AAC play, good for a first-place tie with Union College in the AAC's North Division. Montreat faced the Bulldogs earlier this month in a non-conference matchup at Shawnee State.

It was the first road victory for the Cavs at Bryan in six years. Not to be outdone, the Montreat Cavs' JV team captured a 2-0 (25-17, 25-20) road win.

"We started slow, and then responded well. We got a little lazy in the fourth, but responded well in the fifth to get the win," said head coach Kristy Kamer. "Our defense picked up tonight, so proud of both teams!"
