ASHEVILLE, NC - Men's lacrosse brought home top academic honors in the Appalachian Athletic Conference this season with seven Cavalier players making the AAC Academic All-Conference team, and two recognized as Daktroniks National Scholar Athletes.

The Cavs came in with a record year academically, with the following men named to the AAC All-Academic Team:


Reinhardt and Asbury placed five each, and Point, Tennessee Wesleyan University, and Cumberlands each had two tabbed with All Academic Honors. Penland and Williams were recognized as Daktroniks NAIA Scholar Athletes for their outstanding academic acheivements. In the AAC, Penland, the Cavs team chaplain, was named as Montreat's "Champion of Character" for his third straight season.

Henson, the Cavs third year netminder and 2017 season Team MVP, picked up a lacrosse stick for the very first time literally weeks before starting his collegiate career in the goal in January 2015.  He had the complete season in 2017, earning recognition both on the field and off.  Henson was named 2nd Team All-AAC goalie, notching 5 games this past season with over a 70% rate, while earning Academic All-Conference off the field.
