Montreat, NC - On Wednesday, April 12th, the Montreat women's tennis team hosted Ferrum College, an NCAA Division III member, for their last home match of the year. The Cavaliers topped the Panthers, 5-4.

The Cavaliers went down 2-1 after only taking no.1 doubles. Elizabeth Beary and Skyler Brody paired together to get the sole win in doubles.

Montreat would take no.1 singles with Beary winning 7-5, 6-1 to get the score back to 2-2. At no.2 singles, Brody would win 6-3, 6-4 to put the Cavs ahead 3-2, but the lead soon left with Ferrum winning at lines 3 and 4. With the women's tennis team trailing 4-3 down with no.5 and no.6 singles left to finish, Taylor Lunsford would battle to even the score to 4-4, winning 6-2, 6-4 at no.5 singles. Freshman Emily Wells would clinch the match for the Cavaliers at no.6 singles, winning 6-2, 6-1.

"Watching Emily clinch the match for us was great," head coach Andrew Cobb said. "Today was great simply because we were celebrating our only senior on the women's side, Skyler. But to end the season with a win, as well as seeing the team fight so hard for each other – I couldn't have asked for a better finish to our regular season."

Next up, the Cavaliers will travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the AAC Conference Tournaments. The first round of play is scheduled for April 28th.
