Our Male Champion of Character is a senior men's cross country and track athlete with a 3.97 GPA at Montreat (N.C.). He has been recognized on the college's Dean's List, Distinguished Scholars List and is a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society. He was recognized as an Daktronics NAIA National Scholar Athlete for the 2010-2011 academic year. In 2011 he was the Montreat Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Jared is an active leader who not only serves as the team captain but also as the student body president. He leads by example and is always striving to improve his academics, community, athletic performance and faith. He is the first person to congratulate others following a race and will gather them all in prayer despite barely being able to walk.

His coach states that he has never competed against or coached another person like Jared who shows the respect, integrity, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership demonstrated by this young man. One of his business professors stated that Jared is among the five strongest students he has had in his nearly 20 years of teaching.

An Eagle Scout, he is a leader on campus and in the community involved in missions, his church, FCA, and the Charlotte Rescue Mission.
